List of Nuclear Power Plants in India 2020

Tarapur Atomic Power Plant-1 (TAPS-1) was the first Nuclear power plant in India. This plant is situated in Boisar, Maharastra since Oct-1969. At present, India has 22 operating reactors in 7 nuclear power plants with an installed capacity of 6780 MWe.

India's and Asia's first nuclear reactor was the Apsara research reactor at Mumbai. The domestic uranium reserve in India is small and the country is dependent on uranium imports from other countries to provide fuel to its nuclear power industry. Currently, India has five electricity grids; Eastern, Western, Northern, Southern and North-Eastern. There are 7 more reactors are under construction with a combined generation capacity of 4,300 MW. Kudankulam reactor has the highest capacity of 2000 MW in India.
